Medical Camp in Bufula, Jinja - March 2026

It is with great joy that we can share the news of a successful multi-day medical camp that we conducted during Director Leona’s trip to Uganda this month. During their visit, we were privileged to conduct a number of community health and outreach activities aimed at improving access to essential healthcare services for vulnerable communities. Please find more details about the trip and camp below.

Medical Camp

As part of the outreach, we conducted a medical camp that served approximately 300 people, providing free medical consultations, diagnostic services, treatment, health education, and clinical assessments.

A range of medical conditions were assessed and managed, including malaria, typhoid fever, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, hypertension, diabetes, and other common illnesses. Where necessary, patients received appropriate tests, treatment, medical advice, and recommendations for further follow up.

The outreach also included eye health services, where community members received basic eye examinations. Those identified with visual difficulties were provided with glasses at no cost, helping to improve their vision and daily quality of life.

We were also able to respond to the urgent needs of vulnerable individuals within the community. One particularly meaningful case involved a boy living on the street who had sustained an injury following an accident. We found him on the street wanting medical attention and, as a team, we provided wound management and suturing. With appropriate follow-up care, the young boy recovered well.

Prison and School Outreach

In addition, the team visited approximately 7 primary schools, where children received deworming services, basic health assessments, health education, and treatment for identified health concerns. These activities helped promote preventive healthcare and encouraged healthier practices among school-going children.

Finally, the team also visited 3 prisons, providing chaplaincy and prayer support.

Overall, these activities demonstrated the importance of bringing healthcare services closer to communities, promoting early identification of illnesses, providing timely treatment, and strengthening preventive healthcare.

This experience was a powerful reminder that healthcare is not only about treating diseases, but also about reaching people who may otherwise have limited access to medical care and giving them an opportunity to heal with dignity and compassion.
